When my neighbors asked me to help them with their lawn, I had no idea I was starting a business.
That was 22 years ago.
Things happened fast.
Soon I had enough customers to fill my weekends, and I realized if the phone kept ringing, I’d have a big problem on my hands.
It kept ringing.
At the time it seemed strange because I didn’t have a brochure, business card, or anything with my number on it.
What I did have was happy customers.
People liked the way their lawns looked, and they were passing my number around.
Before I knew it, we were booked solid all week long.
It had never occurred to me that I could earn a living working outdoors and being in nature. If you asked me back then what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have said teacher or football coach.
But life had other plans.
The funny thing is I wasn’t following the playbook everyone else does. I’d grown up watching companies come around in fancy trucks spraying chemicals on everything, but that never sat right with me.
Why couldn’t you have a great lawn without the chemicals?

Texas requires a state license to apply any pesticide for hire, organic products included, and skipping sprays keeps a Kyle yard clear for kids and pets. On thin topsoil over blackland clay, feeding the soil is also what actually works.
